I am a painter and author/illustrator of picture books and have always occupied myself in the arts. I am motivated by the challenge of putting down in paint my version of what captures my attention and the delight it brings to others. It came easy to me as a young child and my dad thought it a good idea to gift me my own painter's box to accompany him on his painting jaunts around our home county of Bucks. As it turned out, he was right and I went on to receive my BFA in Communication Design from Kutztown University and spent the first 15 years of my career cultivating my Philadelphia design firm, Hansen Design. I loved it and worked very hard and eventually my designs and illustrations were featured in popular design trade publications such as Communication Arts, Graphis and Print. After starting a family with my husband, the evolution to painter seemed a natural progression, and since my first showing in 2007, I’ve been lucky enough to have my paintings collected by folks here and in other parts of the world. I paint and write the majority of the year in my studio in Bucks County, a place I represent on the quarterly covers of Bucks County Magazine and in ads for the tourism campaign Visit Bucks County.  My subjects of interest have always been landscapes ~ both rural and coastal, and figurative, with a new affinity towards still life. I am represented in the Bucks County area by the Silverman Gallery, as one of the original Core Four. Since 2019, I have been an active member of the Salmagundi Club~NYC where I have met many fellow artists and have garnered a few awards along the way.
